The ideal time for a 3D or 4D ultrasound is between 26 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. Before 22 weeks, your baby’s features are not fully developed, and after 36 weeks, fetal engagement (baby’s head positioned low in the mums pelvis – can make it harder to obtain clear images. A 3D ultrasound provides a still three-dimensional image, while 4D adds movement, giving you real-time video that captures your baby’s expressions and personality. These ultrasounds are completely safe and use the same sound-wave technology as traditional 2D scans. Not all images qualify for upgrading to a HerView RealBaby™️ image, as a successful enhancement requires a clear view of the baby’s full face during the original scan.
